What L2TL left me with...
This was a very meaningful time for me in my life and I am very grateful for the experience. I set out to accomplish a few things and I definitely think I did that.
1) One was the dire need for me to learn how to say no, and to learn that taking care of myself first isn't selfish, it's smart. It is something I have struggled with for a long time... always taking too much on and feeling guilty otherwise. I had a lot of time to think about these situations and how they affect my life not just others. I had realized long before that I needed to make a change, but wasn't willing to implement it. This opportunity was one that allowed me to focus on my well being and I'm very thankful for that.
2) Remembering what it's like to truly be humble and to truly understand how lucky I am. It is easy to get sidetracked in life and it's not until you don't have and can't do, that you realize that you're not the only one. There are people all over the world that have never had or been able to do. I will forever be trying not to forget that and to help out when I can.
3) Appreciation, big time. Having worked with food for so long, you forget that it's not just a beautiful, fun, and creative art form... It's a necessity, something that we all need to survive. And not just to survive, we need it to focus and accomplish and be successful. It's impact reigns everywhere in our lives.
4) Last but not least, I'm excited. The time, however daunting it could be at times allowed me to focus on what I was currently doing in my life and what I wanted. I am very excited about what the future holds from little changes to big ones. It's sort of like the light turned on again, so for that I will be forever grateful. It is an amazing feeling to truly know that the world is your oyster and you can do anything you want. I look forward to the future adventures, both mental and physical!
