NEWS FROM ANGI STANFORD!
What L2TL left me with...
Hey, hey. What can I say! This was an amazingly special time in my life! One I will forever cherish, appreciate and think back on…
Firstly, thank you Huenu for having the great idea in the first place and then the drive and perseverance to get it off the ground… This took some doing!
Secondly, thanks to my fellow islanders. You were all great in your own individual ways. I am honoured to now call you all friends.
Thirdly, someone who has taught me a whole lot as well as being my supportive scuba diving buddy; Bella. Our brilliant journalist; patient, kind, fair and objective. Someone who bound us all together…
Also to all of my friends , family and strangers that have supported me on this adventure. If it wasn’t for you all, I wouldn’t have wanted to come home at all!!!
And then a special mention to quite a few really exceptional people out there who, without being asked, gave financially what they could to my charity of choice, The Red Cross Memorial Childrens’ Hospital. This meant such a massive amount to me!
I too want to thank those who have pledged their help with the presentation I will be giving within the next 3 weeks. This is a fund raiser where I’ll be showing photos and talking about our island experience. If anyone is interested in coming please contact me at: AStanford@AlydAir.co.za
This is some of what I have gained from this special experience:
- A will to do more, not only for myself, but also for others. - Humbleness. I was such a small thing in the order of life, living an exceptional experience. - Gratitude for this beautiful world that God has given us for our enjoyment. - Appreciation. Usually I am too busy or preoccupied to feel this. On the island I had it with me the whole time… I hope never to lose it… - Confidence in my ability to make a difference…
“Live life, survive by your wits, take chances, go through those open doors with a positive mind, smile ƒº on your face and spirit in your heart…” quoted from my diary the day I left the island…
